Volunteer Feature: Eddy Price very first volunteer in Sydney

We are excited to shine a light on Eddy Price in this month’s volunteer feature. Eddy has been a crucial member of Seabin’s team since February 2021, and he is our very first volunteer in Sydney. His dedication and passion for the program have not gone unnoticed.

Eddy’s primary role as a volunteer is to empty the Seabins and record data at the CYCA Marina in Double Bay. But he has gone above and beyond his duties by spreading Seabin’s message through speaking events and online videos. His commitment to raising awareness about the importance of protecting our oceans is impressive and inspiring.

Eddy signed up after finding Mahon Pool, Maroubra covered in rubbish after Australia day on one of his regular sunrise swims last year. The sight of the pollution had a profound impact on Eddy, and he knew he had to take action. Being an ocean lover, sunrise swims have always been therapeutic for Eddy. He considers the ocean one of his happiest places and wants to ensure that future generations, including his daughter, can enjoy it just as he has.

His efforts have not gone unnoticed, and we want to extend our sincerest gratitude for his hard work and passion for Seabin’s mission. The volunteer program is a critical component of Seabin’s operations in Sydney, and we could not have made the impact we have without the support of volunteers like Eddy.
