Seabin Foundation at SEA + CELEBRATE Newcastle picnic

The Seabin Foundation, in collaboration with the Newcastle Port Community Contribution Fund, has successfully installed two Seabins in Newcastle, Australia. Recent data studies conducted by the Seabin team revealed that food wrappers and microplastics account for a significant portion of plastic items collected in Newcastle, with two out of ten items being food wrappers and three out of ten being microplastics.

To raise awareness about the issue of plastic pollution in the oceans, the Seabin team partnered with Ship4Good, the Marine Rescue team, and other local groups to host a community picnic event called Sea + Celebrate in Newcastle. The event featured an information booth about Seabin, live music, ocean-inspired digital artwork projected on a historical building, and participation from various community groups.

The collective effort of these organizations and the local community came together to advocate for cleaner oceans. The Seabin Foundation’s innovative technology, combined with the support of the Newcastle Port Community Contribution Fund and other local groups, is positively impacting reducing plastic pollution in Newcastle’s waters. By installing Seabins and raising awareness, the Seabin Foundation and its partners are working towards creating cleaner oceans for future generations. Join us in supporting this important cause! Together, we can make a difference. #CleanOceans #SeabinFoundation #NewcastlePort #CommunityEfforts
