Australian Ethical Foundation supports world’s first Seabin 6.0 DMU

Australian Ethical Foundation recently supported the Seabin Foundation in launching the world’s first Seabin 6.0 DMU, a data monitoring unit. This innovative Seabin model has added sensors that capture and record data 24/7, monitoring the water electronically. The Seabin DMU provides timeframes and trends for litter prevention and other water quality issues such as industrial and agricultural runoffs that affect ecosystems’ resilience through lowered oxygen levels and water quality.

The Seabin DMU 6.0 has just been deployed in Sydney Harbour at the Australian National Maritime Museum to monitor plastics as well as consistent measurements of water acidity (PH), temperatures, dissolved oxygen (DO), and electrical conductivity (EC).

The Australian Ethical Foundation granted funds to the Seabin Foundation from their Visionary Grants program, helping to support this exciting Seabin milestone and working towards cleaner oceans. With this new data monitoring unit, the Seabin Foundation can collect and analyze data continuously, providing valuable insights into the health of our waterways.

By monitoring water quality issues and litter prevention in real-time, the Seabin DMU can help to identify and address problems before they become more significant issues. This new technology will not only help to keep our oceans clean, but also contribute to the sustainability of marine ecosystems.

Overall, the launch of the Seabin 6.0 DMU is a significant milestone in the fight against plastic pollution and other water quality issues. Thanks to the Australian Ethical Foundation’s support, the Seabin Foundation can continue to develop and improve innovative solutions for cleaner oceans.
